Aviratha is a vibrant youth force formed to serve humanity and mother land. This social organization was founded on the 25th of March 2007. Aviratha group is a confluence of people of all walks of life, from artists to literary laureates, from thinkers to philosophers, from techies to scientists, with a common agenda, working for a logical growth of the motherland.
The group is formed by emerging campaigners of young social reforms, blessed by experienced thinkers and ‘who’s-who’ of social reforms. Aviratha, with a broad vision aims at development and promotion of ‘the rich’ Kannada language, culture and literary works. Through participation and promotion of various civil society movements it aims to work towards amelioration in the arenas of education, health, environment and social order. Members of Aviratha have successfully worked in above areas in various social groups.

Aviratha Trust is a Bangalore based NGO, working in the areas of Kannada, Culture, Education and Health. Aviratha, meaning ‘INCESSANT’ in Kannada formally began in Aug 2007. It has been working as an informal group since 3 years prior to formal registration. With 140 active members and over 4200 news letter subscribers, Aviratha trust is certifted under sec 80 G of IT act 1961 by the income tax department. People from all walks of life are members of Aviratha.
Teacher and student training are mainstreem programmes of Aviratha in education. Aviratha has initiated several short-term programmes in education. The NGO has forumlated a career guidance training prgramme for secondary school teachers. Experts in education and training have contributed to design and content of the programme. This apart, the NGO conducts computer training programme periodically for school children and teachers in rural areas. It has also helped in setting up of a computer laboratory in several schools. Aviratha conducts training programmes for competitive examinations like CET, IIT and JEE in rural areas. The trust has also funded partly and wholly, higher education of several deserving students from the lower economic strata. Furthermore, the trust has donated laboratory equipments, sports kits, library shelves, books and teaching aids to several rural schools in Karnataka.
Aviratha conducts annual note book donation drive in backward regions of the state. Students studying in state Govt. schoos are benificiaries of this programme. The uniqe part of this programme is that every child receives all varieties of note books in quantities required for one full academic year. Set of books along with stationary are personally handed over to every child. In June 2009, Aviratha donated over 12000 note books to benificiaries in Bangalore rural district. The programme was upscaled in 2010, donating about 50,000 note books to benificiaries in Gowribidnaru taluk in.
Aviratha’s Kannada and cultural wing conducts variety of programmes to promote Kannada, culture, theater and literature. As of date, 31 shows of alternate movies with social relevance have been screened at various places in Bangalore. The shows are followed by a healthy discussion on the subject involved. On theater front, the trust promotes theater shows of social and cultural relevance, staged at different places in Bangalore. Besides this, the trust has staged several plays in Bangalore in the recent times. The NGO has conducted large scale cultural programmes in memory of Dr.K.V.Puttappa, Dr.D.V.Gundappa, Dr.Raj Kumar and Sri.Poornachandra Tejasvi. These programmes have provided a stage for young artists to show case their talent in music, drama, literature and fine arts. The trust has now initiated a programme named KANNADA KALI which is a written spoken Kannada course.
On the health front, Aviratha conducts primary health camps regularly at various rural schools in Karnataka. The trust conducts a free consultation and treatment clinic for daily wage laborers on every Wednesday at two places in Bangalore. The trust also supports financially, a tobacco smoking de-addiction center in the city. Blood donation camps, vaccination camps and eye donation camps are conducted regularly. Health awareness programmes on host of health issues are routinely organized in and around Bangalore.
The NGO actively involves in various civil society and administration proceedings by participating in public hearings. The trust has taken up several issues relating to irrigation, drinking water, land resources, agriculture problems, language and cultural abuse with various levels of the government through representations, research reports, protests and rallies. Implimentation of Sarojini Maharshi report on employment and Dr.Nanjundappa report are examples of issues Aviratha has been pressing for. Aviratha periodically conducts debates and discussions on issues of social and cultural relevance. Think-thank of the society, policy makers and opinion makers participate in these programmes. Panel discussion on Special Economic Zones (April 2007), introspection on Globalization (Sri. Rajiv dixit April 2007), discussion on Global Economic crisis (Sri. Rajiv Dixit Nov 2008) are a few to mention.
Experience and patronage of donors enabled Aviratha to participate in flood relief and rehabilitation activities in flood hit areas of Northern Karantaka. Aviratha distributed relief materials and conducted health camps & community intervention programmes in Koppala and Dharwad distircts. Presently the NGO is constructing a primary school in Koppala district, destructed by floods.
Aviratha trust is currently involved in devising long term programmes in its areas of interest. The trust hopes to contribute to meaningful and balanced growth of Karnataka state and Indian republic in times to come.
